Introducing the Next Generation Cup, a new tournament for Europe’s best youth teams
The BIWPA water polo academy and Club Natació Sabadell bring together the Next Generation as a 'mini Champions League' for youth players
The Next Generation Water Polo Cup is a new high-level tournament aiming to gather the best European clubs in the 19u men's and women's age groups (born in 2005 and younger).
It will take place from September 8 to 10, 2023, at the outstanding facilities of CN Sabadell. The 'Finetwork Aquatics' will host an event that pretends to become a reference elite championship for top teams in Europe.
The 'Next Gen' replaces the Barcelona International Water Polo Cup (formerly Turbo Cup) after 5 successful editions at the Olympic pools of Montjuic, hosting teams of the size of FTC Telekom, Atlètic-Barceloneta, UVSE, or CN Barcelona.

Limited to the best European teams
Official invitations will be sent to all European clubs currently playing in LEN competitions, even though there might be some exceptions for clubs with competitive youth teams.
Also, coaches who wish to take part in the event are welcome to submit a registration request through the website, although entry will require approval by the organization.
Participants will stay at a 4-star hotel located just 14 minutes walking distance from the competition site. Registration includes full board in buffet format for all players, as well as the welcome pack.
BIWPA, Sabadell and Total Waterpolo
Cristina Marin, BIWPA's General Manager, says that it was about time that someone created a tournament of this nature:
We want to offer the best stage for the next generation of European stars to compete against each other with their clubs. We couldn't think of a better place than Sabadell.
On Sabadell's side, Xavi Balaguer, Director of the Sports Area, believes that the association with BIWPA to hold this top-notch tournament is a guarantee of success:
The club is proud to be able to start this project. The young ages are one of the pillars of our philosophy, and bringing the best youth teams to our facilities and to our city makes us very satisfied.
